The Task Force on Undergraduate Education was appointed in April 2004 by President Richard McCormick and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Philip Furmanski. Chaired by Barry V. Qualls, professor of English and dean of humanities for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences–New Brunswick, the Task Force is composed of faculty, students, and staff.
The Task Force formed working groups
to perform a comprehensive examination
of the major components of the undergraduate
experience: curriculum, student experience,
admissions and recruitment, campus
planning and facilities, and structure.
Working groups interviewed hundreds
of people and reviewed reports from
other major universities.
