The items listed below may not be used with any Rutgers trademarks or
logos, nor may designs using Rutgers’ trademarks incorporate any of the following:
- Alcoholic beverages
- Tobacco and smoking products
- Sexually oriented goods
- Health care products
- Goods related to gambling, lotteries, or sweepstakes
- Religious or burial goods
- Helmets, including football helmets or hardhats (excluding miniature helmets)
- Goods including names and pictures of current students (e.g., athletes, movie stars, etc.)
- Advertising or promotional literature of any kind
- Goods making unfavorable references to race, religion, sex, national origins, or mental or physical disabilities
- Products in poor taste, including certain bathroom products
- Products containing flammable, explosive, or otherwise dangerous or hazardous materials, including scissors and knives
The list above is not exhaustive; other items may also be prohibited.
Food items
and toys require special permission from the trademark licensing office. Moreover, the use of names
of organizations or businesses in conjunction with Rutgers’ trademarks is subject to the approval
of
Trademark Licensing.
