Scarlet Knights fans are headed west to Phoenix following the path of the Rutgers football team as it plays in the Insight Bowl versus Arizona State Dec. 27. The last time the two teams met was also the last time Rutgers made it to a bowl game – the 1978 Garden State Bowl at Giants Stadium. The Scarlet Knights finished this season with a 7-4 record, the team’s best showing since 1992. Head Coach Greg Schiano told the Rutgers Board of Governors that the team’s work is not over. “We are very proud of the opportunity we have in front of us,” he told members of the board, which adopted a resolution Dec. 1 in honor of the football team. “To win eight football games – that’s our goal. So we’re going to go finish the job.”
