Mason Gross School honored by N.J. Senate

Mason Gross School of the Arts received a ceremonial resolution from the New Jersey Senate Oct. 25 in recognition of artistic excellence. The resolution, proposed by Sen. Raymond J. Lesniak, D-Union, (RC ’71), was presented to Mason Gross Dean George B. Stauffer during the annual “Arts and Humanities Month.”
“We are proud of the Mason Gross school as New Jersey's premier arts conservatory,” Stauffer said. “I’m delighted that the state Legislature is going to recognize the school and its excellence.”
Stauffer’s remarks were followed by a performance of Beethoven’s Op. 18, No. 4 in C Minor, Finale in the chamber by a string quartet made up of Mason Gross students. “We took with us a string quartet of our most gifted students to represent the ongoing artistic achievements of the school,” Stauffer said.
Founded in 1976, the Mason Gross school is the arts conservatory is home to the departments of dance, music, theater arts and visual arts. The school enrolls 625 undergraduates across four departments and 250 graduate students across three departments with a combined faculty of 140.
