Palmer Yale
M.L.I.S. in Digital Libraries, School of Communication, Information and Library Studies, New Brunswick
Hometown: New York, New York
When Palmer Yale began at Rutgers, he was working full time as a video librarian for CNN, commuting more than two hours each way between Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and New York City, leaving no time for face-to-face class sessions. It’s a good thing, then, that he enrolled in the online master of library and information science program.
That Palmer “took class” sitting at a computer had no bearing on the quality of his education. The coursework was exceptional and the professors accessible, he says, noting, “I absolutely got a sense of community.” He even had a traditional internship experience at the New York Public Library. Now Palmer is senior manager of Digital Media Services for the Fox News Channel, where he is establishing the digital video library and supervises a team of 30 people. “I think that the credentials I got at Rutgers helped me get here,” he says.
