Brandon Renkart
B.S. in Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, New Brunswick
Hometown: Piscataway, New Jersey

Brandon Renkart refers to his Rutgers experience as “a tremendous journey.” After coming to Rutgers as a football team walk-on, he ended up as a two-year starter, all the while consistently making the dean’s list and excelling as a civil engineering student. “Both are very time-consuming,” Brandon notes. “There’s a lot of time management and sacrifice, and I’ve learned where hard work can take you—the sky’s the limit.”

Brandon, a linebacker, was named a 2007 National Scholar-Athlete Winner by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, an award carrying an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. A top moment for Brandon? The game against Pittsburgh in 2005, when he closed out the matchup with an interception. “It was an amazing moment,” he says.
