What We Do

Community Affairs manages a number of functions, programs, and resources for residents and groups statewide, including:

• The annual NJ State Employees Charitable Campaign at Rutgers
• Assisting residents and community groups with general inquiries
• Campus & Community, a monthly enewsletter featuring university and New Brunswick area events and happenings
• Community-University Research Partnership Grants for New Brunswick
• Filming and photography permits for external media and production companies
• Girl Scout Program Award, connecting young girls to Rutgers and higher education
• Programs for the Community, a website and printed directory of events, programs, and services that bring Rutgers’ resources into the local community
• Rutgers Day, a New Brunswick campuswide open house that showcases the university’s research, teaching, and service through fun and engaging activities for people of all ages
• Rutgers Serving New Jersey T-shirt program, which provides shirts free of charge to students, faculty, staff, and alumni participating in off-campus community service
• Rutgers Speakers Bureau, an online database and service that connects Rutgers experts to New Jersey community and professional organizations for speaking engagements
• Senior Citizen Audit Program, through which retired New Jersey residents, age 62 or older, can attend courses on a space-available, noncredit basis, at no tuition cost
